Former President Donald Trump was found guilty by a New York jury. The charges originated from a hush money payment. The verdict came after almost 10 hours of deliberation and marks the first time in American history where a President was convicted of a felony.

The prosecution accused Trump of concealing hush money to an adult film star in order to suppress information that could influence the election. In addition, Alvin Bragg, the District Attorney of New York County, argued that Trump falsified business payments to hide this.
Trump's Stance
Trump has continuously stated that he was innocent and said that this was a political witch-hunt. Trump was angry at the guilty verdict, and he'll continue to campaign for President. Trump had a strong fundraising boom after the trial.
Sentencing
Trump is set to have a sentencing Trial on July 11th, which is a couple of days before the Republican National Convention. Trump faces jail time, but he may receive probation or fines instead. If Trump is jailed, that won't prevent him from running for office.
